I really do not understand the Australian way of looking at non famous people who write, If you are famous you can write a load of crap and it will get published and you make money. People who are well known are not necessarily good writers most of their stuff is written for them. Then you get someone who is NOT well known who writes a book and it is really good and people enjoy it and you do not make money. I was talking recently to a self published author who has manage to do well but has had to deal with rejection after rejection for years. Why is that? I suffered the same rejections and I find it so debilitating you just get to a point where you do not want to write. Yet I know I must there is a second book to finish and those that have read my book have asked me when it is going to be finished? Well who is going to publish it for me? I have already written another one on family violence which I cannot get any interest in even though it is the topic of the day. So back to completing Vol.2 of The Vulcan Hunter. Happy reading all.
I am really pleased with the way the novel has hit the publication trail. It is everywhere on the net and has been taken up by quite a few distributors. Angus and Robertson have also taken it up and I was pleased to discover that it was widely advertised in Germany. I thought it very funny that in the States a call went out to find all the people named Peter Cashman; he is the lead character in the book but he is a Doctor and though they found a lot of people throughout the US none were Doctors that I know of. I was surprised at just how many they found considering he is a figment of my imagination and it was written in Australia. Then I suppose there will be others who have the same names as the book characters but my leading female character I think will be a hard name to find.
I am not having much luck with the sales of my new novel. I really though people would find it an interesting read with so much going on in the world and the natural curiosity for wanting to know what the future may hold. But then again that is what you have to want to read a novel such as this. Still I hold hope for this book as I am already writing the second book and would like to think this will generate interest in the second book. Good luck and hoping you will take the time to read it
My book has been released and hopefully next week I will be able to arrange a book signing with all the new press releases that have gone out! It has a times been a long and tedious haul to get this far but as a a friend and an author told me when it is done the relief is almost palpable. At least here I can express how I feel. I am now looking to get a new PC. Obviously my computer did not like the over load no sooner was everything completed than the computer collapsed in a heap and has not worked since. When It came to writing the overview for the second book it would not do anything. New PC and a larger capacity plus a few more associated editing processes and I will be right to start work again. Somehow I am going to be sorry that winter is soon over! Sure I like spring and summer and particularly Autumn however winter gives you the time and the cold black days when everything else is all too much to contemplate, to do the things inside that you do not consider in summer, and Writing is one of the tasks. So for that reason summer can delay for a while.
Finally after all this time I can now see my book in print. I am quite happy with what the publisher has done and I hope I can do more with them at a later date. After months of tedious re reads and corrections is is with a sigh of relief that the finished product is now printed. I was pleased that I have relatives here this weekend just gone and they were the first to view the book. I am hoping that because it is a mixture of science fiction and fact that somewhere out there people will want to read it. We shall see.
I have been very busy with the onset of the release of my Novel. The weekend saw me institute the first part of the second novel but I haven’t really started to write yet, I have considered that I can turn this into a trilogy. I feel that the second book may address the situation as I left it in the first novel but with the way the world is today I would like to see where the future will take us. I want to know how my characters will evolve or not. If the Earth will survive and begin a again or not. I have ideas but I really don;t know what will happen until I start writing and those ideas become definitive of certain characters.
When I am formulating ideas for my new novel in a follow up to the most recent one, I need to be busy and for that I like to cook. The more I think the more I cook. So today with ideas running around my brain I cooked up several trays of delicious Sausage Rolls and then with other ideas coming to me I continue ( with the oven already hot) and baked some apple stuffed with dates. Delish. So now I have some great ideas and a fridge for of lovely fresh food.
